La Poste ou La Impost ou La Waste of Space

If you though my story about sending Mum's present was interesting, wait, there's more!

Pam decided to send a parcel home and did what she did for me. The only trouble was; she struck the bureaucracy on a particularly officious day and they kept her waiting in the queue for only 20 minutes so that they could say NO!

Pam doesn't give up easily and she annoyed them by asking for some service, or at least an explanation for why there wasn't any. The man was quite polite when he pointed at a stamp vending machine and stomped off behind his door for a pastis and a nice lie down.

But that's not all.

Pam asked her sister to send out a parcel of summer clothing, as we couldn't get all  200kg into our luggage on the plane. This was done and the Aussie post people were very obliging and took a small fortune for their trouble.

The parcel arrived today, after a delay of 6 weeks, back in Australia at Pam's sister's place. At least they noted where it came from (a pity). Apparently, the French Poste did not like it for some reason, so they returned it. An explanation for this has been offered and the offer was taken up. They advised us that the investigation will take 6 weeks, and the answer may come.

We are now considering our options for redirecting our mail when we move on from here. Did I mention that our mail has been redirected to our address in Montpellier? Nothing has ever arrived, and Aussie post have taken a small fortune. We are thinking of getting an archaeologist to do an investigation.

On second thoughts, a stand up comedian may be a better option.

If you are thinking of mailing us, please ring first, to ensure that we are not home, just in case they knock and we don't take prisoners.
